The Austin String Band Festival, held annually at Camp Ben McCulloch, celebrates its 19th
year this October 16-18, 2026, with the finest string band music, concerts, dancing, workshops, food, camping and jamming in Texas.
Sponsors are a vital part of the festival — your support makes a difference to ensure the ongoing success of the festival, and helps us bring high quality traditional music to Central Texas while keeping admission rates affordable to the public!

This family-friendly festival brings together roots music enthusiasts from Central Texas and beyond. On two stages, live performances include Bluegrass, Cajun, Old-Time Appalachian, Country, Mexican, and other traditional string band styles. Top it off with a convenient, beautiful location, good food, a children’s playground, plenty of space for jamming and camping under spreading oaks, a sparkling creek, and you’ve got yourself a fine festival.
What is AFTM?
The Austin String Band Festival is produced by the Austin Friends of Traditional Music, a 501(c)(3) non-profit run entirely by volunteers. AFTM has been an established organization for 52 years, with a proven track record for organizing and presenting quality events. We promote and encourage the preservation and appreciation of traditional music by sponsoring festivals, house concerts, workshops, dances, providing music scholarships, and other educational and entertainment activities. All revenues in excess of out-of-pocket expenses go to funding future programs.
