SUMMARY:6th Annual Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival
DESCRIPTION:The sound of old-time music is considered by many to be quintessentially American\, yet the extensive Black influence – from the creation of the banjo and fiddle traditions to the roots of social dances performed alongside the music – is not widely acknowledged. Many still consider Black folks playing the banjo and fiddling as anomalies\, rather than musicians continuing their own generations-old cultural traditions. The Fort Worth African American Roots Music Festival (FWAAMFest) aims to change that. Featuring a show-stopping lineup of award-winning artists from across North America\, the festival features performances\, educational sessions\, and jamming celebrating the central role of blackness in American roots music. It is unique among U.S.- major city festivals\, Black-led and centered on Black artists reclaiming their place in roots music forms through preservation and innovation.

SUMMARY:Webster's Ragtime Trio - 1st Weds at Batch
DESCRIPTION:Webster‘s ragtime trio is a throwback to a style of music that went largely unrecorded. Around the turn-of-the-century\, it is said that there was lots of string bands\, i.e. mandolin\, banjo\, guitar\, bow cello\, playing the popular hits of the day including classic ragtime compositions like the Maple Leaf Rag. Although that type of music was composed for marching bands and solo piano performance\, it is hard not to notice how joyful it sounds played on acoustic stringed instruments.  \n\n\n\n They don’t stop there\, they more than dip their toes into ragged Texas Fiddle tunes from the 78 RPM era\, even venturing across the pond to play the occasional archaic Polish mazurka\, and/or striking up borderland polka Harkening back to the glory days of Tejas.  \n\n\n\nAlexander Jones\, Will Webster\, and Westen Borghesi make up this fine trio.
