The Austin String Band Festival takes place October 16-18, 2009 and
features workshops and bands performing in various styles of string
band music: Bluegrass, Old-time, Cajun, Latino, and other types of
string band music. The site is Camp Ben McCulloch in Driftwood,
just outside of Austin. It is a weekend festival and participants
are invited to camp Friday and Saturday nights, and to play music
together around the festival grounds when they are not in the Pavilion
watching the stage show. There will also be delicious local and organic
food for sale at the festival.
The Austin Lounge Lizards headline this year's festival which begins
with a concert Friday night, a full day on Saturday with music workshops
Saturday morning, a concert Saturday afternoon and evening; the festival
ends with a gospel jam session on Sunday morning. 5 bands perform Friday
evening, 9 bands perform on the main stage Saturday, and a number of other
bands perform mini-sets on a second stage.
The ticket price ranges between $15 (for Friday only) and $35
(for the whole weekend).
The Fiddler's Green Music Shop is once again donating a Breedlove
AD25/SR Plus guitar for raffle. Raffle ticket prices will shortly be
announced .

- It is a dreadnaught with a cutaway. It has a Sitka Spruce top and Rosewood
back and sides, Abalone on the rosette, top binding, and "ellipse" position markers.
It has built in electronics with a Fishman 4T 3-band EQ with brilliance and volume
controls and a built in chromatic tuner. It comes with a Breedlove custom deluxe
hardshell case. The list price is $1339.
