November 9, 2008 Meeting Minutes
| 1. | DR | Financial Statement |
| Festival lost a few hundred dollars. It did about the
same as last year when you consider that last year a $1000 gift was made
to the festival. The T-shirts were a good money-maker. DR predicts AFTM will have about $100 profit this year. This is good. We are about breaking even. |
||
| 2. | JD | We need to assign responsibilities according to the events planning sheet. |
Thank You Concerts were discussed along with possible alternatives. They are still on the table for next MWF. Volunteers – SR and EP will set up shifts and schedule volunteers Auction -- Email EP if you have items to donate. Workshops – Email ES with suggestions. MC – Ask John Ailey? Publicity – EP gives overview of where we stand. We need to approach KUT a month in advance and give them a CD. We need to approach Chronicle and Statesman three weeks in advance. Or buy an ad. JH offers to research prices. EP will call Cultural Connections Performance Support at TX Commission on the Arts and ask about a grant. We will give away some wristbands on the radio we'll get airplay. Stage Manager – DR will do it. Lighting – Let's put a call out for a volunteer knowledgeable in this area. |
||
| 3. | EP | AFTM Logo T-shirt |
| We'll reprint the AFTM logo t-shirts. Is board willing to pay a little extra for a number of plates so we can have multiple colors? | ||
| Board: YES. | ||
| Is board o.k. with EP getting together with Howard Rains to choose ink colors? | ||
| Board: YES. | ||
| 4. | EP | ASBF |
| Thank you all for your work. It was a great event. It was the highest quality one we have done yet. | ||
| 5. | TW | Board Nominations request |
| We should send out an email to membership requesting board nominations.
It's that time. KT suggests having ballots at MWF for all members. |
||
| 6. | Any other business? | |
| DR | Attended String Project event last week. The String Project, through UT,
provides music lessons for kids. This event was an “alternative styles” event
which exposed kids to bluegrass, mariachi, and other styles of string music.
Can we offer the Strings Project something, perhaps tying them into one of our
events? DR will pursue and bring report to Board. EP ran into woman who has grant info. She will follow up and ask for info. |
